Microsoft Plans to Switch Microsoft Edge to Chromium
Microsoft says it plans to replace the proprietary EdgeHTML browser engine Edge currently uses with Chromium and the Blink browser rendering engine, an which is an open source project that powers everything, from the world’s most popular web-browser (Google Chrome) to famous desktop apps like Spotify.
Microsoft says it wants to get involved with and become a ‘major’ contributor to the Chromium project, which will no doubt increase optimization, compatibility, and features.
With one less rendering engine to worry about, website development and testing just became a whole lot easier!
